Liapades reef

Reef at a distance of about 200 meters from the small beach next to “Iliodoro” or “Liniodoro” cape with distinct rock formations on the shallower levels and Poseidonia meadows in the depths. It is a habitat for a multitude of marine species, attracting people engaged in fishing, while there is frequent traffic -mainly- of tourist boats.

Commonly present here are golden groupers and groupers -although at greater depths- moray eels, lobsters and parrotfish, shellfish -most notably Triton’s trumpet- and even more common, small fish of many different species. Rarely, pelagic species are also found, usually greater amberjack. Immediately after the period of successive lockdowns, there was a relative increase in their populations -probably temporary- but also the first appearance of lionfish.
